Midmar eventsMidmar hosts a number of sports events, and during weekends and peak periods bicycles, windsurfers, canoes and yachts can be hired and launch tours and sunset cruises can be booked by prior arrangement. Midmar hosts the Annual Midmar Mile which is the largest open water swimming event in the world as well as a large number of provincial and National Triathlons and sailing events. The Henley Midmar Yacht club has organised races on most weekends and has excellent facilities for the sailing faternity. The Midmar Mile is without a doubt the most well known even staged at this venue Midmar AccommodationMidmar camp features 14 two-bed chalets, 13 four-bed chalets with two bedrooms, three five-bed chalets with two bedrooms and two six-bed chalets with three bedrooms. All the chalets include a lounge/dining room, fully equipped kitchen and barbecue facilities. One of the six-bed chalets caters for disabled visitors. There are three separate campgrounds within the resort, of which two have water frontage. At present two of the campgrounds have limited electrical plug point facilities. All sites are served by communal ablution blocks, with hot and cold running water. Thurlow House is an exclusive lodge with a lounge/dinning room, kitchen, tennis court and swimming pool. A resident cook is available to prepare meals for guests. Midmar camp has sixteen four-bed rustic cabins with communal ablution facilities. Camping facilities are also available.
